Hala is strong, determined, an extremely hard worker, and never gives up easily. She stubbornly holds these qualities close to her and leaves little room to relax. There is a lot outside of our control right now, including the ability to travel as much as we want to, but this image represents the beginning of a weekend away, time on our own, and a break from the world.
This Saturday comes to you in two parts.
Part 1: Our favorite part of visiting Livingston Manor was stumbling upon Catskill Art Space and the incredible exhibitions they had on display. Pictured with my favorite subject (Hala), you will see the art of Samuelle Green, Ellen Brooks, and Sol Lewitt.
Not Pictured: “AVAAR” by James Turrell - an experience you simply cannot photograph. I want to sit here and walk you through how I felt about it, how deeply moved I was, and how I was reminded of the complexity of the human body, but it won’t be the same unless you experience it yourself.
Part 2: The light and life we found in Callicoon, NY. What a pleasant surprise it was to visit this town for the first time and feel a connection to my home. At the end of our visit, we spent some time with the east bank of the Delaware River and its surroundings. I grew up with the west bank of the river flowing through my home town and I never stopped for long enough to appreciate it.
