This is my mom and if this picture didn’t give it away, she is a true ray of light. It’s difficult to squeeze all of her wonderful qualities into a few sentences, but my favorite part about her is that she embraces everything she does and everyone she meets with love. I have an abundance of gratitude for how she raised my sister and I, how she treated my friends like family, and how she always stands up for what she believes in.
We spent today celebrating her birthday (a day early) and she deserves more than we can ever give her.
It’s my mom’s birthday today and therefore, I have to continue singing her praises. My second favorite thing about her is how goofy she is. I can recount memories of car rides and making her laugh so hard it was concerning, she laughs along with my friends during their visits, and you can often find her dancing in her kitchen while cooking dinner.
I’ve missed these moments with her so much that Hala and I bought a house 30 minutes away from hers

I love snow. I love the mornings I wake up to the sound of a plow skimming the pavement. Before I open my eyes, I lose myself in time - I’m back in my teenage bedroom listening to the plow and awaiting a phone call to inform my step-dad (formally a school principal) that schools are closed that day.
I wish that same sound means that everyone has a snow day. We could all use a break.
